TSU

Double Labyrinth Seal

The TSU labyrinth seal already offers excellent sealing properties, which are further enhanced by the extension of the labyrinth, resulting in even more effective sealing performance.

Technical Data Sheet

TSU Labyrinth Rings

- Material: Grey Cast Iron GG20Brand: GLH
- Description: TSU Labyrinth Rings by GLH are unsplit and made of high-quality grey cast iron GG20. Upon customer request, these rings can be produced in the TSU-S version, which are split, dowelled, and bolted for ease of installation and maintenance. TSU rings are designed for use in SNGH Plummer blocks, SFCM flange bearing housings and are also compatible with most Plummer blocks from other well-known brands.
The rings are securely fixed to the shaft using a round cord made of NBR (Shore A +/- 5): 70 or alternative materials. Each TSU seal is individually packed for safe handling and transport.

Installations

Mounting Instructions
for TSU Seals

Prepare the Components

Ensure that all parts, including the bearing housing and shaft, are clean and free of debris or contaminants.

Position the Seal

Gently place the TSU seal onto the shaft or into the housing, aligning it with the intended sealing surface

Apply Lubricant

Lightly lubricate the inner surface of the seal to facilitate smooth rotation and reduce friction during operation

Press the Seal in Place

Using a suitable tool, carefully press the O-ring between shaft and TSU-ring seal into position, ensuring that it is evenly seated to avoid deformation or misalignment.

Check Alignment

Verify that the seal is properly aligned with the shaft and housing to ensure optimal performance.

Benefits

Dismounting Instructions for TSU Seals

Remove the Bearing

Disassemble the surrounding components, such as bearings or housing parts, to access the seal.

Extract the Seal

Using an appropriate tool (e.g., a seal puller), gently remove the TSU seal from the shaft or housing, taking care not to damage adjacent surfaces.

Clean the Area

Once the seal is removed, clean the area thoroughly to remove any residue, dirt, or grease before installing a new seal.

Key Features

- Non-Contact Seal: TSU Labyrinth Rings operate without direct contact, meaning there are no speed limits and minimal wear.
- Customizable Design: Available in standard or TSU-S versions (split, dowelled, and bolted) to meet specific customer requirements.
- No Speed Limit: The non-contact design allows for unrestricted rotational speeds.
- Temperature Flexibility: Operating temperature can be adjusted by selecting different materials for the round cord.
- Fat Lubrication: The sealing performance can be further enhanced by applying additional grease lubrication.

Materials & Hardness

- Round Cord Material: NBR (Shore A +/- 5): 70 or alternative materials as per customer specifications.
- Environmental Limitations: Labyrinth seals should not be used in humid conditions or outdoors, as moisture can impair their effectiveness.
- Operating Temperature: Can be adjusted by choosing alternative materials for the round cord.
- Assembly Instructions: The round cord is pressed into the designated groove between the shaft and the labyrinth ring using an appropriate tool.
- Applications:
- SNGH Plummer Blocks
- SFCM Flange Bearing Housings
- Plummer Blocks from Other Well-Known Brands

Features of Cast Iron

Cast iron is an iron-carbon alloy with a high carbon content, typically between 2.1% and 4%. It is known for its excellent compressive strength, heat resistance, and ease of casting, making it widely used in the construction and mechanical industries. Cast iron is also commonly used in manufacturing cookware and engine components. Despite being brittle and prone to breaking under tensile stress, cast iron provides high stability, durability under compression, and is cost-effective to produce.
